What is Social Conditioning?

Everyone wants to believe that their ideas, their thoughts, and their feelings are entirely their own. However, there is a permeating idea that this is not the case. Our thoughts are not our own at all. Instead, they are the result of interactions with everyone we have ever come into contact with, and in every situation we have ever found ourselves. This is known as social conditioning.

The basics of Social Conditioning

The basics of social conditioning refer to our personal beliefs about the world. Every day, we are exposed to new ideas from society and our friends and family. Over time, these ideas become so normalized and ingrained that we believe that we believe them, even if the opposite is true. It is a subconscious phenomenon that we do not realize has happened until one day where everything becomes clear.

But is there an antidote or a solution to social conditioning? Yes, there is.

The solution through Self Authorship

Self Authorship is the solution to social conditioning. This is the process of being aware of your beliefs and challenging them. Every day, you face choices and decisions that will dictate where you are in the world and how the world perceives you. Embracing self-authorship, you can make the crucial, life-changing decision about how you are running your life, rather than allowing your life to run you. This self-authorship is a crucial step towards taking control of your life and finding your purpose in the world, not anyone else’s.

Time to think

We at Next Level Method invite you to think about your thoughts and whether they are yours. Obtaining the skills to differentiate between what you believe and what others believe is one of the first, most crucial steps towards self-improvement.
